Marc Martorell

Conservation Coordinator

Why IOI:

I wanted to come to the Galapagos to help the community and work in the area of conservation for this paradise. IOI was the type of foundation that I was interested in and they needed someone in my field of work. Now, I couldn’t be happier for being a part of this team.

My IOI role:

I started off as a volunteer for IOI working for the Local government in risk management and natural disaster. Now I am the IOI Conservation Coordinator. I work with many local Institutions interested and involved in this area and together we are making a big effort to preserve one of the most beautiful places in the world.

Life prior to IOI:

I was born in the beautiful island of Mallorca (Balearic Islands), and I have always loved the islands in general. I’m a geographer. Although my academic credentials are about physical geography, my work has always been related to environmental and waste management.

Just me:

I don’t like to describe myself. I consider myself a good person, with good and bad characteristics. I love outdoor and nature activities. One thing that I am sure about is that I hate unfairness. The people who know me well say I’m diplomatic and persuasive.
