Ecotourism Intern


Role Overview

Gain experience in eco-tourism and environmental management with the Communications Department of the Galapagos National Park (GNP) in Isabela. As an eco-tourism intern you will go to the visitor sites of the GNP and run satisfaction questionnaires to visitors and register tourism related information, as well as generate statistical databases from your surveys. This information collected will help the National Park to make decisions in tourism management that might be crucial for Galapagos wildlife preservation and sustainable long term tourism. This project requires you stay a minimum of 4 weeks


Our schedules are based on a minimum of 20 hrs/week and can voluntarily be extended to aregular 40hr work week. The base schedule is Monday-Friday 7.30 – 11.30AM which may be subject to change depending on the tasks at hand.


  • Intermediate to advanced level of Spanish in order to communicate with fellow workers and visitors

  • Patient contact and the ability to communicate with care and patience

  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team

  • Ability to make recommendations based on knowledge and experience

  • Flexibility in work schedules and tasks to accommodate day to day needs of a local institution

  • Physical ability to work outdoors with potentially high sun, element, and temperature exposure

  • Ability to independently collect and register data
