Juan Fernando Meza Vera
I have always had a passion for conservation and education and IOI works at the heart of both of these important local factors. I had heard so much about what IOI was doing in the community and knew that I wanted to be part of it!
My IOI role:
I started working as a maintenance man, doing bits and pieces wherever needed. I was then promoted (due to growth and local need) to ‘Local Coordinator.’ This job has everything that I enjoy doing. I coordinate (alongside our International Coordinator) all the tours for our study abroad program, accompany them on these tours and ensure that they have unforgettable moments but above all that they are safe and well looked after.
Life prior to IOI:
Originally from Manta in the South of Ecuador, I came here to Isabela as fisherman initially and then moved into tourism as numbers and needs grew. I had a lot of experience with the wildlife here on Isabela and really enjoyed ensuring tourists got the best of what we have to offer here…the list is endless!
I am hugely passionate about photography and sports! I am a serious adrenaline junky and will give everything a go once – maybe twice and more if it’s fun and scary enough! I am a nature lover at heart, I love animals, landscapes and getting lost in the wilderness. I am also a great cook (or so I have been told) and never say no to an opportunity to socialize with friends and family and dance some salsa! Anyone fancy a dance…?
