Coral Reef Restoration Assistant (Volunteer World Partner)

722.50

As the coral reef restoration volunteer, you will contribute to an ongoing initiative to improve and monitor coral reef health off the Southern Coast of the Isle of Youth. The work is based directly on the needs of the community, and will be conducted in the following areas:

  • Coral reef monitoring.
  • Coral gardening.
  • Fish surveying.
  • Seagrass surveying.
  • Lionfish monitoring and capture.

Volunteers will snorkel to conduct this work, with the exception of the coral gardening and lionfish monitoring, which will require volunteers to scuba dive. The data collected will help guide the environmental planning of this protected area.

Participating in an IOI project in Cuba offers the incredibly rare, and impactful opportunity to make a profound contribution in a country that is in an exceptional state of transition.
